LaTeX is mathematical language. It can handle complex formulas.

1. (2^2)/3x is displayed as Failed to parse (PNG conversion failed; check for correct installation of latex and dvipng (or dvips + gs + convert)): 2^2 \over 3x

1. (2^2)/3x * (4x/3) is displayed as Failed to parse (PNG conversion failed; check for correct installation of latex and dvipng (or dvips + gs + convert)): {2^2 \over 3x} * {4x \over 3}

It just keeps getting more complex.
